Raise your hand if you have ever maybe sort of procrastinated on anything. Like, let's say, forgetting in your twenties to register your car and/or to pay a few (just a few!) parking tickets and getting threatened with going to jail while on a date with someone who may or may not have ended up as your husband?
So when it comes to college applications, what can parents do if their kids are falling behind?
The good news is that...
a) Falling behind is normal because teenagers are dealing with so much, like growing their brains and learning how to be in relationships and figuring out how to individuate--from you!
b) I have some quick tips that can help you and your kid get back on track without undo stress or strife.
Latest video — how to help your teen get back on track with college applications
This week's video is specifically for parents of seniors, but the ideas in it are helpful for any parents of teens. Key points include:
✅ What you're going through is normal and okay.
✅ The college admissions process is an artificial construct designed to pit teens against their parents. (I can't prove this, but it feels accurate.)
✅ There are plenty of things you can do that won't cost an arm and a leg to get back on track.
For families of high school juniors...
Now is an ideal time to start putting together an inspired college list. When you leave lots of time, the process can go from being stressful and chaotic to enlightening and fun. I promise!
I will be creating various workshops and courses in the coming months. If you have any specific feedback on what would be most helpful, please fill out my survey below! Big thanks to everyone who already given me some great ideas.
